AANM is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of artists.

The award-winning SURA Arts Academy program has provided professional photography lessons to middle and high schoolers in metro Detroit for 17 years. This season students focused on telling stories through portraiture. An opening reception for SURA will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, FREE with RSVP HERE

Featured work will be available for purchase during the reception; proceeds will go half towards the artist of the photo and half to support student scholarships. Photo price: $30.

Reel Stories is a joint endeavor along with the Palestinian Heritage Museum in Jerusalem, designed to empower young women through the art of filmmaking. The 32 students – 17 from metro Detroit and 15 from East Jerusalem – created every aspect of the two short films shown in this exhibition. An opening reception for Reel Stories, which includes a screening and panel discussion, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 5, FREE with RSVP HERE. More info HERE.
