The AANM Store is teaming up with illMuslims: Be Social Detroit, an evening dedicated to connecting young professionals across the metro Detroit community, accompanied with art, music, food and refreshments. We will feature the latest works of up-and-coming local vendors and artists in the community while providing a platform to create a strong network of Muslim-run initiatives in metro Detroit. All are welcome!
illMuslims is a social and creative platform for millennial Muslims. The collective hosts quarterly social events across the country in an effort to create a space to connect with peers and develop a sense of community.
The event will include music by DJ Bornswift, live musical performances, painting, artwork, vendor booths, mocktails (non-alcoholic cocktails), food, photos, pop-up shop by Threads and Beams footwear and a complimentary floral arrangement by Maison Farola. Food will be provided by several metro Detroit eateries including The Bottomline, Cannoli Pastry and AlJoom's BBQ.
Featured performers include Palestinian American musican Omar Zidan aka Omar Okz, Big O Musiq-Ordinary Kidz, New York-based Moroccan American R&B sensation Abir, who was recently featured in a commericial for the popular Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, as well as a special surprise performance by a metro Detroit dance group.
Other artists include printmaker and artist Zeinab Saab; her current exhibition Rituals opened at Loftworks Gallery in Cleveland on Feb. 11, 2017. Illustrator and muralist Marlo Broughton will also be on hand showcasing various artworks along with a photo exhibition by Los Angeles based-artist Ji La Zand.
