Product Details for Keffiyeh - Gray Pattern Scarf Made in Damascus Syria
It is said that the distinctive woven check pattern of the keffiyeh originated in an ancient Mesopotamian representation of either fishing nets or ears of grain. The keffiyeh (also known as a hattah, ghutrah, mashadah or shmagh) was worn in the desert countries of the Arab world by men & women for centuries to protect against the sun, wind and sands of the deserts.
With traditional pattern influence this cotton keffiyeh is predominately gray background with taupe, lavender & mauve flamestich, finished edges and tassels on the corners. Just the right touch to add a bit of glam to your wardrobe. At a generous 40 inches square you can roll it, twist it and wear it as a neck scarf. Folded into a triangle you can drape it over a coat, wear it as a shawl or around your waist as a ‘hipster’ scarf.
It’s urban chic today. From rap stars to movie stars, from LA to Tokyo you can spot this trend. From hip-hop to collegiate, from casual to edgy evening wear, it’s a fun, fabulous must have fashion accessory.
