Backgammon is the oldest known game in history and originated in Mesopotamia, the Royal Game of Ur,and can be traced as far back as 3000 BC. Played typically on wood and used stones as markers and dice made of bone, stone, pottery or wood.
Played by two players, backgammon was tradtionally played by aristocracy of the ancient civilizations.
Each move is done after the roll of the dice. The winning player defeats his/her opponent by removing all their opponents pieces from the board. A simple game to learn but stategy for the options to move pieces and anticipate your opponents next move is the real challange.
In ancient times (3000 years ago) a mosaic was made from glass and rock. Modern times (a few hundred years ago) began the art of wooden mosaic developed in Damascus, Syria. This mosaic art form uses mother of pearl, walnut, rose, lemon, peach & other woods in intricate geometric designs (called Arabesque).
