Product Details for Evil Eye Glass Hand

The 'Evil Eye' charm is believed to dispel the curse one may bestow on someone who is envious or jealous of you.  A bit of folklore that can hang anywhere...in a car, on a doorknob, wherever you choose.  A widely distributed element of superstition and folklore in the Middle East & the Mediterranean region.  The Khamsa from the Arabic: خمسة , Khamsa‎, meaning five used in amulets, charms and jewelry to protect against the "evil eye." is widely used in the Arab World, and is commonly associated with both Muslim and Jewish culture in the region. Nevertheless, the symbol predates the rise of monotheistic religions, having been widely used in antiquity.

An alternative Muslim name for the Khamsa is the Hand of Fatima, in reference to Fatima Zahra, the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad.

One explanation for the symbol is that it is designed to ward off the evil eye - five fingers in the eye to blind the jealous or malevolent person.

This three inch cobalt blue glass hand is accented in white,  topped with a tiny blue satin bown and suspended by a one inch cord.
