Nihad Dukhan, a Palestinian, grew up in Gaza and holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Detroit Mercy. He was extensively trained in the classical styles of Arabic Calligraphy and became a master of Arabic Calligraphy by receiving his Ijazah from Istanbul's master calligrapher Hasan Celebi in Thuluth (an ornamental style) and Nasakh (used in the Quaran) styles in 2009, after completing 11 years of study. His work has been exhibited in New York, Washington D.C., Chicago and San Francisco.
