Mother is artfully written in Arabic Calligraphy by Palestinian American artist Nihad Dukan. born in Gaza, Palestine, he became fascinated with the art of Arabic calligrapy in his elementary schooling. He started learning an practicing different classical styles of Arabic calligraphy and competing with neighborhood children. Dukhan moved to the United States in 1983 and began his studies in universities and obtained a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, two masters degrees in the engineering fields and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering. Despite his training and education in engineering, he continued to train in the all the classical styles of Arabic calligraphy, eventually developing his own distinctive contemporary style.
