Product Details for Keffiyeh - Brown & Silver Gray With 'Evil Eye' Amulets - Handmade in Jordan
It is said that the distinctive woven check pattern of the keffiyeh originated in an ancient Mesopotamian representation of either fishing nets or ears of grain. The keffiyeh (also known as a hattah, ghutrah, mashadah or shmagh) was worn in the desert countries of the Arab world for centuries to protect against the sun, wind and sands of the deserts of the world by men and women.
Designed by a fashion forward Jordanian artisan this new twist on the tradtional keffiyeh is a triangle in brown and silver gray in traditional woven design & adorned with three hand made 'evil eye amulets. This is high fashion personified.
From corner to corrner it is 84 inches, so it will wrap and hang beautifully from the triangle which is 42 inches. This is a one of a kind creation.
The 'evil eye' is a widely distributed element of folklore, a belief that some people can bestow a curse on victims by the gaze of their 'magical eye'. This is caused by jealousy, envy or greed.
