Evelyn Shakir’s collection of several short stories are rich in history and cultural detail on the lives of first and second generation Lebanese American women. These stories range in time period from the early 20th century to the present day and presents moving stories of each woman’s attempt to reclaim their Lebanese heritage, or in some cases reject it and the gender role it represents.
