Syrian-born, Pennsylvania-raised Boshra Al Saadi began by cutting her teeth as co-front woman in NYC indie rock band Looker. She’s spent the last two years with the dynamic Janka Nabay and the Bubu Gang, who opened the 2012 Fall Global Fridays season. Saadi’s solo project shows traces of her vast and diverse influences, from dancehall to traditional Arabic dabke, from Brian Eno to Lady Saw, resulting in a real fusion of sound that lends itself to a sweaty dance floor or a darkened bedroom.
“Like Kate Bush with a sequencer and a passion for reggae, Syrian-born singer Boshra Al Saadi takes the introverted qualities of folktronica and experimental pop and introduces them to some cool new friends.” -MTV Iggy
